I believe that every child deserves a free, equitable, high-quality education.

I am running for Place 7 because I want to be a voice for the students, parents, and teachers in our community and ensure that their needs and concerns are heard and addressed.

Furthermore, I believe that my unique skills and experiences make me well-suited for this role. My entire career has been in education, and I firmly understand the challenges and opportunities facing our schools today. I am committed to working collaboratively with other board members, district administrators, and community members to make positive changes for our students, teachers, and schools.

Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.

— Marian Edelman Wright

I would like to enhance the partnerships between local universities, teacher preparation programs, and AISD campuses. The goal is to create a pipeline of “Day One ready” teachers that feed directly into AISD. Another added benefit is that these partnerships would also increase professional development opportunities for AISD teachers and staff.

I hope to continue the Trustee Talks already in place, as well as create other engagement opportunities for community partners to share their feedback and vision outside of board meetings.

The stakeholders with the most to gain from an equitable, high-quality education are the students on our campuses. I would like to form a committee of students that represents all grade levels and campuses. The goal is to have the committee meet regularly with the board to share their feedback and ideas for improving their educational experience.
