School Board: Budgets!

One of the primary jobs of the school board is to approve the budget for the school district. Through feedback from school district departments, community input, and need assessments, board trustees determine the best use of funds to meet the needs of all students. While I have not been a trustee in a school district before, I have had the opportunity to make financial decisions at a small charter district. Because of my role, I was tasked with determining the best way to spend funds to ensure students had the best math instruction possible. Through my work with a local civic engagement organization, I have also gained a better understanding of what my role would be in the financial stewardship of district funds. Below, I’ve linked a great article that explains school finance in Texas.
